To begin with, I chose a ritual where the meaning is more present in the story than the documentation process. For my ritual project I decided to do a prayer walk everyday for five days. Each day I would pick a flower off of our tree in the backyard and mindfully walk to the end of the street praying for the house and family members present in it. Each new flower signifies a prayer for the day. I would walk to their house and place the flowers just outside of it so that the family would not see me, but still to ensure that the flowers made it to their destination. Finally, on the last day, I ended with a bouquet of flowers.

A little backstory for you! So, originally I was going to walk around the neighborhood placing flowers at each house signifying my prayers for the neighborhood. However, I wanted to choose just one house so that I could really focus my prayers, walk, and attention on it (I new that if I chose too many houses this would become just another project to me). Just a little bit before this project was announced a house at the end of my street was broken into and six cop cars surrounded it. The boys in our back-house walked out near the scene and talked with a few neighbors. It was discovered that this house has a history of trouble in the neighborhood and that this is normal for something like this to happen here. To top it off, my housemate buys the wife's homemade tamales from this troubled home and was invited inside the day before all the drama. She told me her experience was strange stating, "there was weird stuff happening. There were family members yelling, crying, laughing...the atmosphere just felt off." After some brainstorming for this piece, I knew I needed to include this house in my project; they needed a little bit of Jesus in their lives.
